This beautiful mare was alone in the field when I photographed her. Reports were that a mare had lost a foal, and I speculate it could have been her. She didn't stray far from a specific spot in the field, either, which strengthened my suspicions. The horses in Missouri are managed by the Missouri Wild Horse League and members have been checking on her. There are four herds/bands of wild horses that inhabit the Ozark National Scenic Riverway lands in Shannon County, MO.
