When traveling through Scotland, it's not uncommon to see castles - or castle ruins - dating back 1,000 years. Castle Moil is just one example. The first recorded use of this point as a fortification dates back to the year 900. (For more: http://www.castlesfortsbattles.co.uk/highland/castle_moil.html) This castle was abandoned in 1601 and has been crumbling into the ocean since.
On the day we arrived in Kyleakin, the afternoon sun was glowing off the side of the castle, creating a lovely light. I quickly stowed my luggage in my room and set off on the five minute walk to the harbor - I knew I wanted THIS view. While we were there, a rainbow appeared. It lasted only a few moments, but it was magical!
