Description
Frank Lloyd Wright is credited with saying, "Architecture is the triumph of human imagination over materials, methods, and men, to put man into possession of his own Earth. It is at least the geometric pattern of things, of life, of the human and social world. It is at best that magic framework of reality that we sometimes touch upon when we use the word order."
The iconic Gateway arch is one of those triumphs of imagination. Standing 630' tall, the arch is just as wide as it is tall and is the tallest man-made monument in the United States. It was designed by Eero Saarinen in 1947 and was constructed over a period of about five years.
