Artist's Description

Taken January 2016, these four trumpeter swans took exception to our presence and decided to take off into the sun. The swans migrate annually through the Mississippi River corridor and can be spotted at the Audubon Center at Riverlands in West Alton, MO from December until around February.

Self-taught photographer and Best of Missouri Hands Juried Artist, Holly Ross has explored a wide variety of subjects, but always returns to the more natural elements of our world. Her photos have been described as having an “eclectic mixture of soft, near watercolor effects on florals – almost Japanese in delicacy and Zen-like in simplicity – contrasted with the sharp, clean linear architectural images.” With her photography, she seeks out vantage points that others might pass by.
