Artist's Description

I was hiding behind an uprooted tree as she approached and she did not see me until I moved - but not before taking a few photos of her. The wild horses of Missouri roam Shannon County and are often photographed. There are four herds, capped at a total population of 50 horses, and they are managed by the Missouri Wild Horse League and live (for the most part) on federal lands. This photo was taken using a crop sensor camera and 300mm lens, so she was not as close as she appears. I've also cropped in, allowing the focus to be just her face. (c) Holly Ross 2018
