Description
There are four herds of wild horses roaming the hills in and around Eminence, MO, about three hours southwest of St. Louis.
Each herd is named for the area where they are usually found. These horses are from the Shawnee herd, which, as of November 10, 2019, has ten horses. When the foals are born, they are black or brown. As they age, they gray-out and eventually turn white or gray. The Missouri Wild Horse League is charged with their management and are the experts on the herds.
