Artist's Description
The lead mining industry once thrived in parts of Missouri. You can visit St. Joe's Mines State Historic Site to get a glimpse of the buildings and machinery from the mines. This was an old engine. I loved the patina from the rust, the layers of paint, and the broken glass. The closing of the mines shattered communities. (c) Holly Ross 2017
About Holly Ross
Self-taught photographer and Best of Missouri Hands Juried Artist, Holly Ross has explored a wide variety of subjects, but always returns to the more natural elements of our world. Her photos have been described as having an “eclectic mixture of soft, near watercolor effects on florals – almost Japanese in delicacy and Zen-like in simplicity – contrasted with the sharp, clean linear architectural images.” With her photography, she seeks out vantage points that others might pass by.
