This photo was selected as one of three still-life photos in the 2016 SEEN 9 Photo Competition in St. Louis, MO. As we were cleaning out the pantry, my husband ran across these dried Shitake mushrooms. I knew right away that I had to photograph them! In this image, I was trying to highlight the texture of the mushrooms, but the negative space is just as strong. Accepted into the Framations "Beyond the Lens" art exhibit, running through March 9, 2017 at the Framations Art Gallery in St. Charles, MO. (c) Copyright 2016 Holly Ross, All Rights Reserved

Self-taught photographer and Best of Missouri Hands Juried Artist, Holly Ross has explored a wide variety of subjects, but always returns to the more natural elements of our world.
