Artist's Description

Lone Elk Park, a St. Louis County Park near Valley Park, MO, boasts a herd of elk and bison. In addition, visitors often see wild turkey, white tail deer, and many birds.

These two bulls had finished sparring - the young one pushed down the hill by the more experienced bull. The young bull just stood in admiration as the elder strutted toward a cow.

Self-taught photographer and Best of Missouri Hands Juried Artist, Holly Ross has explored a wide variety of subjects, but always returns to the more natural elements of our world. Her photos have been described as having an “eclectic mixture of soft, near watercolor effects on florals – almost Japanese in delicacy and Zen-like in simplicity – contrasted with the sharp, clean linear architectural images.” With her photography, she seeks out vantage points that others might pass by.
