Artist's Description
I spent Veterans Day 2016 in a different way. I went to Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. I visited Arlington National Cemetery when I was 12, but I had no idea what to expect from Jefferson Barracks. The enormity was astounding; hill after hill of white headstones... Let me just say that my friend and I covered only a small fraction of the cemetery where so many courageous men and women are buried. We saw graves sites dating back to the Civil War - Confederate and Union headstones almost side-by-side - and a number of Civil War refugees. We saw headstones of those who fought in the Spanish American War up through World War II. And, as noted, we only covered a fraction of the land. I hope that my photos do their resting place justice. About Holly Ross

Self-taught photographer and Best of Missouri Hands Juried Artist, Holly Ross has explored a wide variety of subjects, but always returns to the more natural elements of our world. Another client described her work as, “visual poetry… emotions captured in ink and moments caught as if time could be glued to paper.” Holly’s intent is to seek out those more intimate ‘scapes’ and provide just a glimpse into a world,...
