Great shot Holly!

Holly Ross replied:

Thanks, Jeff! Sadly, he's no longer in Missouri. The pond where he was hanging out was drained and made deeper. Construction is on-going and the hope is he and the mallards he is with will return once the pond is finished and refilled.

Artist's Description

Ferdinand, a moniker given to the Mandarin duck who mysteriously appeared in a St. Louis area park a few weeks ago, seems to be quite happy in his little pond. He is quite at home with the mallards who are in residence.

No one knows why he is here and he is not banded. His arrival coincided with the arrival of a Mandarin duck in New York's Central Park.

About Holly Ross

Holly Ross

Self-taught photographer and Best of Missouri Hands Juried Artist, Holly Ross has explored a wide variety of subjects, but always returns to the more natural elements of our world. Her photos have been described as having an “eclectic mixture of soft, near watercolor effects on florals – almost Japanese in delicacy and Zen-like in simplicity – contrasted with the sharp, clean linear architectural images.” With her photography, she seeks out vantage points that others might pass by. Another client described her work as, “visual poetry… emotions captured in ink and moments caught as if time could be glued to paper.” Holly’s intent is to seek out those more intimate ‘scapes’ and provide just a glimpse into a world,...
